I lost sight of the router

Symptoms

The glass shows I lost sight of the router. The setup page says I lost sight of your router partway through connecting. Tap Connect again — that often catches it. If it keeps happening, get me and the router closer together. Under Extra technical detail: My radio 200 / I lost sight of your router completely. That is distance or interference. Move me closer and try again.

Cause

While the ticker was connecting, the router’s regular beacon stopped arriving. That is the ticker’s own radio concluding it can no longer hear the router — not a refusal — and it happens when the signal is marginal, when a microwave oven or a similar device is running, or when a mesh system moves the ticker between its units mid-join. The detail line is labeled My radio rather than Router reason for that reason: the router sent nothing.

Fix

  1. Tap Connect again.
  2. If it happens again, move the ticker nearer the router and check the bars in the list.
  3. Move the ticker away from a microwave oven, a cordless-phone base or a large metal object for the join.
  4. On a mesh system, place the ticker nearer one unit rather than between two.
