What CryptoTicr is

What it shows

CryptoTicr is a small desk display, about the size of a golf ball (1.38 by 1.57 by 1.77 inches), that shows cryptocurrency prices all day without you picking up a phone.

One coin at a time, it shows the coin’s logo and name, its price in US dollars in green or red by the day’s direction, a row of figures such as the 24-hour change, volume, market cap and rank, and a chart of the price over a range you choose, from 24 hours up to 90 days. Or it shows two or four coins to a screen, without the chart. Between coins it can show a card on the whole market.

You choose up to 12 coins from the top 1,000 by market value, and how long each one stays on the screen.

Everything it can do is on Features at a glance. What it deliberately does not do, such as connect to a wallet or send alerts, is on What it does not do. The hardware is on Specifications.

Where to set it

In a web browser. The ticker serves its own settings page on your Wi-Fi: open its address on a phone, tablet or computer, and most changes reach the screen as you make them; changes to the coin list wait for Save & Apply. There is no app to install and no account. Setup takes a few minutes: Quick start.

How it is run

Prices come from CoinGecko through CryptoTicr’s own server, with no fee and no subscription. The firmware updates itself over Wi-Fi. It runs from any USB port on about one watt and is built to stay on. And it is supported by the person who built it: Lee, in Hudson, Ohio. See Contact.
