Can it alert me when a price moves?

No. The settings hold a coin list and display choices and nothing about thresholds or alerts, and the ticker has no way to notify a phone; it does not know one exists. What it offers instead is a glance: the 24-hour change in the up or down color under every price, and a chart of the range you choose. See Price area.
