The screen got brighter at night

• brighter than daytime
• It gets brighter in the evening instead of dimmer

Symptoms

• When quiet hours begin the ticker gets brighter, not dimmer.
• On the settings page, a small brighter than daytime note sits beside the night percentage.

Cause

Night level is higher than Brightness. The ticker does what it is told: during the window it runs at the night level, whatever that is. The page allows it, because some owners want the ticker brighter in the evening, and marks it so it is not a surprise.

Fix

1. Open the settings page and scroll to Display.
2. Note the Brightness percentage.
3. Under Nighttime quiet hours, drag Night level below it. The brighter than daytime note disappears and the ticker dims at once if the window is open now.
