On a first visit

A banner with Lee’s photo: First time here? That's Lee (in Ohio). / He's built me, wrote my firmware, and he's got your back. Questions, problems, stuck? Call or text the number, and Suggestions and bug reports welcome: the email address. It is there for owners who joined the Wi-Fi in seconds without watching the ticker’s own setup cards.

The banner shows until the ticker has saved anything, or until this browser dismisses it. The dismissal is remembered in the browser; the saved flag lives on the ticker, so a second phone does not see the banner on a ticker that is already set up.

After an update

A different banner, Welcome to v2.07! with a What's new? link, appears on a version you have not been shown. Dismissing it is recorded on the ticker, so no other browser shows it again. See After an update.
