A VPN blocks the settings page

• The page loads only when my VPN is off
• This site can't be reached while the VPN is connected

Symptoms

• The settings page will not load on a phone or computer with a VPN connected, and loads the moment the VPN is off.

Cause

The page is served by the ticker itself, inside your home network. A VPN sends the device’s traffic through a tunnel to somewhere else, and many VPNs send local addresses through it too, so the request never reaches the ticker.

Fix

1. Turn the VPN off, open the settings page, make your changes, and turn the VPN back on. Most changes reach the ticker the moment you make them. Changes to the coin list wait for Save & Apply, so press it before you turn the VPN back on.
2. Or use another device on the same Wi-Fi that has no VPN.
3. Many VPN apps have an option to allow local network access, sometimes called LAN access or split tunneling. Turning it on lets the page load with the VPN up.

If that didn’t work

• The page still will not load with the VPN off: The settings page won't open.
