Does it work without internet?

No: the prices come from the internet, so without it there is nothing new to show. What the ticker does instead is keep the last good screen on the glass, show I can't see my server with a line saying which layer failed, for example Your internet looks down, and retry on its own.

The moment its server answers again the coins resume where they were; nothing needs resetting. See Glass says I can't see my server. The settings page, served by the ticker itself, still works on your local Wi-Fi during an internet outage.
