Can I turn off the address popup?

Yes. In the Show my IP address section of the settings page there are two rows, QR code and Text, each with its own schedule. Turn both off and the popup stops; the page says Turning both off turns the whole thing off. If you would rather keep a way in, set Number of times to a small number: most people scan the code once, at setup, and never again.

One showing cannot be switched off: when the router gives the ticker a new address, it shows both forms once, and once more at the next start, so the address you wrote down is never silently wrong. If that bothers you, give the ticker a fixed address: Give the ticker a fixed address.
